This project features a studio based multi-track recording of the band “Barbary Coast” and their song ” Cold Shoulder”. On this project my duties included recording, editing, mixing and mastering both as part of a group and individually.

The track was recorded as part of a project, where I  recorded a band which the college assigned and  mixed and mastered the track and film students created a music video for it. This was all done to a strict deadline and we were given two and half days (52 hours) where by 1 o’clock on the Friday afternoon the finished track and music video was to be complete and ready for playback.

The band which I was assigned was “Barbary Coast”, A pop, contemporary funk style 4 piece band. They let me hear a rough recording of the track they wished for me to record and let me know some of the bands they were influenced by and had a sound they were aiming for. This was great for pre production, allowing me to plan the recording, which mics/techniques would be used and how best to use the studio spaces to get each part recorded and mixed in time.

I have chosen to include this recording as it demonstrates my ability to work with a client and as part of a group in a studio environment, keeping to a strict deadline. It also demonstrates my leadership and organisation skills, both very important when operating a recording studio.
